Talking Kit

I thought it would be of use to discuss the kit and equipment I took with me. It's obvious that when going outdoors to have fun with a hobby pursuit then in order to enjoy yourself you have to get the fundamentals of shelter warmth and food right before you get to the other activities you have planned. I've made two videos - the first one on camping basics and the second on ham radio in the field. I often go camping just to enjoy that experience alone, but getting the basics wrong will mean the whole venture will be jeopardised. I hope you enjoy the videos.

Part Three on YouTube now available

I have just recently uploaded Part 3 of my YT series of videos.  This episode takes me to about halfway round the route including some lovely views of Shiskine golf club in Blackwaterfoot.  An unusual course of 12-holes where I met Stewart the greenkeeper on an absolutely beautiful early morning.  If you play golf, it must be one of the most sought-after links courses in a simply stunning place.

I like chairs

It may be that I am not getting any younger, but one of the delights of getting home was sitting in a chair to write, use a radio and do stuff.  I think one of the first things our ancient ancestors must have done is drag a suitable log into the cave to sit whilst whittling a mammoth tusk.  Much more comfortable and better than living at/on ground level where life is one long plank or press-up exercise!  At one of my camp sites I found a perfect size log and did just that.  Luxury.
